Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP) Designation
The Canadian Association of Rehabilitation Professionals hereafter referred to as CARP, in furthering its objectives of ensuring professional standards for its members, administers a registration process. The registration process is an effective means of communicating to the person receiving services, payors and industry agencies that members have achieved and demonstrated a recognized level of professional competence in the field of rehabilitation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to qualify for the RRP designation?
In order to qualify for the RRP designation a minimum of an undergraduate degree is required including academic core competency courses and qualifying area of employment. For further information contact the National office or click on the Application Guide.
What if I have an undergraduate degree, but do not have one or more core competency courses?
There are a number of institues which offer the core competency courses either on-site or through distance education. We can recommend the following:
Is there a fee to apply for the RRP designation?
Yes, there is a one time non-refundable fee to have the application processed and reviewed. The fee is $133.75 (GST included) or $143.75 (HST included) for the Atlantic Provinces.
My most recent degree was obtained prior to 1990, and have contacted the university to obtain course syllabus'. I have been informed that the courses are not catalogued and I'm unable to obtain them. May I proceed with my application?
Yes, the Registration Review Committee will review the information according to the transcript provided. It is VERY important to have a current course in Professional Ethics as it relates to the field of rehabilitation/human services.
Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor (CCRC) Designation
The purpose of certification (CCRC) is to ensure that the professionals engaged in rehabilitation counselling are of good moral character and meet acceptable standard of quality in practice. The existence of such standards is considered to be in the best interests of consumers of rehabilitation counselling services and the general public. Through their participation in both the certification and certification renewal programs, rehabilitation counsellors are also able to bring about a higher level of performance and qualifications throughout the profession.”

Certified Vocational Evaluator (CVE) Designation
The Commission on Certification of Work Adjustment and Vocational Evaluation Specialists (CCWAVES) states: “The primary purpose of this certification (CVE) is to provide assurance that those professionals engaged in vocational evaluation meet acceptable standards of quality. The existence of such standards is considered to be in the best interest of consumers, other practitioners, individuals in allied professions and the public. Through their participation in both the certification and certification maintenance programs, vocational evaluation specialists are able to bring about a higher level of performance and qualification throughout the profession.”
